Elwood Armour, Ph.D. is a clinical physicist who is director of the brachytherapy physics section. Dr. Armour completed his Ph.D. work in the Physics Department of M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas. He completed a post-doctoral fellowship in the Radiation Oncology Department at Stanford University. Prior to coming to Johns Hopkins in 2005, he worked at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas and William Beaumont Hospital, in Royal Oak, Michigan.
He has extensive research background in the field of radiation biology with emphasis on biological responses of brachytherapy and hyperthermia. He also has experience in radiation safety aspects of therapeutic radiology and laboratory radioisotopes. His current interests are focused on implementing intra-operative HDR brachytherapy, integrating multi-modality imaging into brachytherapy planning, and small animal imaging and radiation therapy.
