Summary:

647 patients were accessioned to this trial nationally. 19 patients were accessioned to this trial at Hopkins. This trial was closed to accrual on 9/20/02.

19 patients were enrolled at Johns Hopkins. 9 patients were treated with the standard 30 Gy radiation administration, all 9 have expired due to progressive disease. 10 were enrolled in the experimental 8 Gy treatment, of which 9 have expired due to progressive disease and 1 is currently in follow-up with disease.

In conclusion, KPS, FACT scores, and physician predicted survival all are correlated with actual survival. Physicians on this study were able to predict which patients would have longer survival times, although the prediction of survival was optimistic compared to actual survival by an average of 3 months.
